3D Scanning for Cultural Heritage & Education

Collections can’t travel, and neither should they have to. The Scan Truck brings museum-grade digitization on site: photogrammetry for color-true surface detail, blue-light laser scanning at 25 microns for exact geometry, and LiDAR for halls, digs, and historic architecture. The result is a permanent digital record that serves preservation, research, education, and public access at once.
Museum Partners: From T-Rex Skulls to Fine Art
For the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County and La Brea Tar Pits, we digitized artifacts spanning the collection: T-Rex skulls, gemstones, sculptures, and artworks, each captured at fidelity suitable for research, replication, and exhibition. Fragile subjects never leave their environment; the capture systems come to the collection.
Non-Contact by Design
Every method we use is light-based and non-contact: nothing touches the object. Cross-polarized photogrammetry captures color and surface without harsh lighting, laser scanning resolves geometry to 25 microns for condition documentation and replication, and LiDAR records rooms and structures as they stand. Historic buildings get the same treatment, as with the Crestmore House, where long-range LiDAR and laser scanning combined to document the full exterior for preservation.
Education & Public Access
Digitized collections become teaching tools: web-viewable 3D models, XR exhibits, printable replicas for hands-on learning, and research-grade meshes scholars can measure remotely. We have taught photogrammetry through a Gnomon workshop, and through our Virtually Conscious program we donate cameras to educational programs worldwide and offer scholarship scanning for educational and humanitarian projects.
